Episode 6: Office romantics
A secret office affair between two compulsive gossips? What could possibly go wrong?
Callum is a writer and performer originally from sunny South Wales. A lifelong comedy fan, he has written and performed in sketch shows and opening mic nights in London and back home. As a writer, he mostly writes for TV, his work usually taking on a satirical, surrealist, or darkly comic nature. His short film ‘Have a Biscuit’ has been shown at a number of festivals, and he is currently working on another short film about a visit to a psychic medium that goes wrong.
“I love finding comedy in the mundane, and it doesn’t get more mundane than a call centre. There’s something freeing about writing characters who are just bad people, and it’s even more pleasing when you oversee them getting their comeuppance. I knew from the start that since three is the golden rule in comedy that telling the story was in three phone calls was key. Firstly, things are good, then there’s a complication, then things go awry. I should also note that my parents met when they were both working in an office, but it didn’t quite go like this!”
