Episode 2: Crushin’ Cowgirl
Fresh from a breakup, an aspiring actress discovers a whole new messy side to herself: this one rocking a southern drawl.
Imogen Radwan is a writer and film director with a background in experimental horror and surrealism. Over the years, Imogen has developed a voice for herself through her focus on world-building, drawing upon a sense of place to reflect her subjects’ interior states. While Crushin’ Cowgirl is her first venture into audio drama, she is also set to release her short film Mia’s World in 2023, and is developing her first feature, Sacred Hearts.
“In Crushin’ Cowgirl, I wanted to unpack the unusual sense of shame that women often carry with them when it comes to having a crush. When Van develops a crush on someone new, she finds her inbox invaded by voice notes from a mysterious cowgirl, threatening to reveal her secret – and convincing Van that she is psychotically pursuing another woman’s man. An exploration of the ways in which women internalise the idea that they’re either dangerous or “crazy” for having certain desires, Crushin’ Cowgirl portrays the disconnect between how cool we want to appear versus the fear of infatuation.”
